OUR STORY

Welcome to Webster Row…we’re thrilled you’re here! Our family business was born out of a love for furniture inspired by the mid-century modern design movement.  Our goal is to carefully curate a collection of fine furniture and unique décor of eras past, though we do have a mid-century bias.

In 2007, it was love at first sight when we bought our first pair of neglected Saarinen executive arm chairs while meandering through an outdoor flea market in the small town of Oronoco, Minnesota. While we recognized the exceptional modernist design, and appreciated the quality of construction, we did not know their historicity or value. It wasn’t until a few years later that we were informed of the treasures we possessed. Our love for mid-century modern furniture grew as we researched the topic. As our knowledge increased so did our personal collection of mid-century furniture. It was from this that a small furniture “business” was born out of the basement of our row home on Webster Avenue in Chicago, IL. Hence the name, Webster
Row! Scavenging, refinishing, and selling mid-century furniture became more than a serious hobby…it became a passion!

 

In 2013, the business took a hiatus when we moved to West Michigan with our young son. As we acclimated to our new home and focused on growing and raising our family, scavenging for furniture was not a priority. In the summer of 2017, while pregnant with our fifth child, we decided it would be nice to have something to talk about…other than kids! We relaunched and rebranded as Webster Row. While our aesthetic is still bias towards mid-century modern design, we now include high-end cabinet-maker quality furniture from all eras.  After all, living in Furniture City USA does present a unique opportunity to continue the legacy!

We desire to offer our clients high quality, exceptionally designed furniture at reasonable prices relative to current retail value of comparable quality. When necessary, we passionately renew and modernize pieces to bring them into relevancy in today’s design environment.
