We are outside this morning riding bikes and taking pictures of furniture to list on Chairish! We just finished refinishing this beautiful Drexel piece. It’s amazing how this mahogany edge banding on the drawers was hidden in its original finish, but now pops with our hand rubbed oil and wax. Love it!

Well, I’m finally ready to come out of the cacoon I’ve been living in for two months! We moved our home and business and are just starting to have the smallest sense of being settled, so I’ll be getting around to new photos and listings in the next week or two!! But here’s a warning, our “tiki hut” (shown in this shot with a refinished Broyhill Sculptra highboy) is going to get a lot of attention in the near future as it’s the only room ready for staging! This hut is actually a hot tub room with the cement in-ground hot tub under the plank flooring shown...isn’t that crazy?!?! Maybe we’ll open the hot tub up in a decade...

Yes. To. Modular. I love that you can put them together on a long wall, flank another piece of furniture, or mix and match in the room as necessary given dimensions. The most iconic modular units of all time were designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller: the Basic Cabinet Series. While these are not BCS, I’d say American Of Martinsville still has a hit in the 1960s with these.

I love pairs. I don’t love matchy matchy, like having a complete dining or living room set. But I love pairs. Pairs help to pull everything together while still being able to mix everything up!

I’m excited for spring so we can get our floor-to-ceiling stuffed garage emptied of all the furniture we have that’s ready to get refinished. Plus, it’s a great time to be out curating! For example, check out this lucite coffee table and sofa by TH Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb that we recently added to the collection!

My sweet little Olive is reflecting if she approves of our most recent acquisition: a pair of ebonized and Naturally distressed occasional chairs designed by Ward Bennett for Brickel. I think she’s going to conclude that they go pretty well with the pair of black lucite topped walnut tables in the back by Drexel. I mean...who wouldn’t - right?!??

These chairs were fully stripped and refinished, and the juxtaposition of the beautiful smooth grain against the characters imperfections only garnered through age is spectacular. It’s kind of like buying a pair of blue jeans with holes - it just screams high end!

Stow and Davis made some great furniture back in the day, like this 6 drawer walnut credenza with beautiful and refined walnut. We gave it new life with some Paul McCobb style walnut legs, and we are absolutely loving the look.
